Mr. Watkins has been the Principal of Westbrook School for 3 Years. Originally heralding for the “Far North,” he and his family now love living in the heart of the Bay of Plenty.  Westbrook School is the sixth school he has been principal of and he has a rich history in both rural and urban education.  His true loves include his wife, fishing, golf, Te reo Māori and eating seafood.

I have worked at Westbrook School since I started here as a beginning teacher in 1994. I taught in Years 3, 4 5 and 6 during that time but spent most of my time teaching and leading the Year 5 team.

I have been in my current role as Associate Principal (Senior School) since the beginning of 2008 and am thoroughly enjoying the challenge of the role. While the main part of my role is to oversee what is going on in the Year 4, 5 and 6, I also get to work with groups of children such as the Student Councilors and Road Patrollers.

Outside of school I am kept busy by my two daughters, aged 3 and 5,  my husband who is a mad mountain biker and the never-ending saga of renovating our house.

I am the Associate Principal at Westbrook School.  I will have been teaching for more than 25 years. Over this time I have spent most of my teaching experience in the Junior school area.  I am responsible for Staff and children in the Junior School area.  I really enjoy my job, especially having day to day contact with children.  I also enjoy watching children learn and develop to their full potential.  When I am not at school I love to travel, work in my garden and read.
